Get ready to doodle and draw. Whether you are interested in abstract or life drawing, this class will focus on what the students bring to the class. Bring paper, wood, fabric, whatever surface upon which you wish to draw, along with pencils, pens, charcoal, whichever drawing tools you might like to use. Be prepared to learn, ask questions, make artwork, and have fun!
Faculty: Cynthia Lee Bowler
Cindy has been an artist all her life. From a young age, it was recognized that she had a passion and talent for art. Continually wanting to create, she received a BA in Studio Art in 1983 from the University of California, Santa Barbara where she fell in love with Abstract Expressionism. In 2005, she received her MFA from Johnson State College and Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, VT. It was there that she explored her interest in textile arts. Coming from a family of seamstresses, designers and textile art professors, fiber art is in her blood. Whether she paints abstractly with oils or pastels, embroiders and illustrates onto vintage linens, or burns into cherry wood, she fuses care and meaning into all that she touches. Cindy believes an artistic life is one of listening, feeling and responding. With a love of the visible world and a communication with our own souls, artists can truly express an individuality that can heal, lead and educate. Cindy currently resides in southern Vermont and makes art every day.
